Binghamton Goes 2-0, Sweeps Week #2 #AEWSOC Awards

BOSTON – Six #AEWSOC programs picked up wins last week highlighted by Binghamton going a perfect 2-0-0. The Bearcats have won three of their first four games for the second time in the last three seasons. Elsewhere, Stony Brook got off to its first 3-0 start since 2000 before dropping its first game on Sunday. UAlbany, Maine and UMBC picked up its first wins of the year, while New Hampshire was also victorious.  
 
Fourteen games take place this week, including Stony Brook taking on Long Island rival and preseason CAA favorite Hofstra on Sunday.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 3
Offensive Player of the Week
Essie Bonney, Binghamton – Jr., Forward, Los Angeles, Calif.
  • Scored both goals in Binghamton’s 2-0 win over Manhattan Sunday.
  • This is Bonney’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor. 
Defensive Player of the Week
Erin Theiller, Binghamton – Jr., Defender, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
  • Led a defense that didn’t allow a goal in a pair of shutout victories last week.
  • The Bearcats surrendered only seven total shots, including just three on net, in the two games.
  • Assisted on Essie Bonney’s first game vs. Manhattan.
  • This is Theiller’s first career Defensive Player of the Week award. 
Rookie of the Week
Olivia McKnight, Binghamton – Fr., Midfielder, Apalachin, N.Y.
  • Contributed points in both of Binghamton’s wins last week.
  • Had a goal in a 2-0 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday and an assist in a 2-0 victory over Manhattan Sunday.
  • This is McKnight’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.

Fourteen remaining contests will air on ESPN+/3, home to over 40 America East school-produced events this fall.
