#AEVB League Play Begins Friday; Week #4 Awards Presented

BOSTON – New Hampshire and UAlbany had winning records this past week as Hartford and Stony Brook also picked up wins. The Wildcats sit atop the current standings with an overall ranking or 10-4.Four teams will start league play this weekend with the following matchups: UAlbany visiting UMBC and Hartford hosting reigning #AEVB champions Stony Brook. Here are the conference's weekly award winners of the 2019 season:
 
#AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 24

Co-Player of the Week
Akuabata Okenwa, UAlbany – Sr., RS, Canyon Country, CA
  • Had 42 kills and averaged 3.8 kills per set in 2-1 week.
  • Also had 10 blocks and 4 digs.
  • Led the Great Danes to a win over ACC team Boston College with 20 kills and 5 blocks.
  • This is Okenwa’s third career Player of the Week honor.
Co-Player of the Week
Jenna Bridges, Hartford – Sr., MB, Exeter, R.I.
  • Had 66 kills averaging 3.3 kills per set.
  • Also had 10 blocks and 4 digs.
  • Tallied 20 kills and hit .643 against Lafayette.
  • This is Bridges’ sixth career Player of the Week honor.
Setter of the Week
Megan Anderson, Hartford – Jr., S, Orono, MN
  • Tallied 204 assists averaging 10.2 per set.
  • Added 48 digs and 4 blocks.
  • Delivered 10 service aces.
  • Had a career-high 55 assists against CCSU.
  • This is Anderson’s fifth career Setter of the Week award. 
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Emily Tanski, New Hampshire – Sr., L, Plymouth, MI.
  • Had 51 digs averaging 4.64 digs per set.
  • Had a season-high 30 digs in win over Loyola.
  • Also had 12 assists.
  • This is Tanski’s ninth career Defensive Specialist of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Maddie Lindsay, Hartford – Fr., OH, Lehi, Utah
  • Recorded 69 kills averaging 3.45 kills per set.
  • Had 41 digs averaging 2.05 digs per set.
  • Also had 7 blocks and 4 service aces.
  • This is Lindsay’s third career Rookie of the Week honor.

Three remaining contests will air on ESPN+/3, home to over 40 America East school-produced events this fall.
