Week 3 #AEVB Awards Handed Out

BOSTON – Five of six #AEVB programs picked up wins this week highlighted by New Hampshire who went 3-1 last week. New Hampshire and Hartford are leading the league with overall records of 8-3 and 5-4, respectively. Here are the conference's weekly award winners of the 2019 season:
 
#AEVB Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 16

Player of the Week
Carmen Freeman, UMBC – Jr., OH, Memphis, TN
  • Had a total of 47 kills averaging 3.92 per set.
  • Also averaged 3.5 digs per set.
  • Had a career-high 22 kills on .417 hitting % in win over Canisius.
  • Also picked up three double-doubles.
  • This is Freeman's first career Player of the Week honor.
Setter of the Week
Julia Kim, Stony Brook – Fr., S, Batavia, Ill
  • Tallied 96 assists averaging 9.6 per set.
  • Also had 17 digs.
  • This is Kim’s first career Setter of the Week award. 
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Brooke Hayden, UMBC – Sr., L, Mt. Airy, Md
  • Had a total of 56 digs averaging 4.7 per set.
  • Had a career-high 20 digs against Charlotte.
  • Also had 5 service aces in win over Canisius.
  • This is Hayden’s first career Defensive Specialist of the Week honor.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Maddie Lindsay, Hartford – Fr., OH, Lehi, Utah
  • Tallied 34 digs averaging 3.4 per set.
  • Recorded 30 digs.
  • Also had 5 service aces and 3 blocks.
  • This is Lindsay’s second career Rookie of the Week honor.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Wren Macaulay, New Hampshire – Fr., S, Lake Orion, MI
  • Had a total of 60 assists averaging 3.75 per set.
  • Had a career-high 24 assists in 3-2 win over Northeastern.
  • Recorded 29 digs and 7 kills.
  • This is Macaulay’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.

The majority of #AEVB conference games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Three remaining contests will air on ESPN+/3, home to over 40 America East school-produced events this fall.
