#21 UNH Stays Undefeated; Week #3 #AEMSOC Accolades Unveiled

BOSTON – New Hampshire, the #21 team in the latest United Soccer Coaches’ Top 25, stayed unbeaten last week with a 4-0 shellacking of previously unbeaten Fairfield, the preseason favorite in the MAAC. The Wildcats (3-0-2) are one of 20 unbeaten teams remaining in the nation. Overall, #AEMSOC teams went 9-4-1 a week ago with Hartford and Vermont both going a perfect 2-0-0.

Fourteen games take place this week ahead of the start of conference play on Sept. 27.

#AEMSOC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 16
Offensive Player of the Week
Fabian Lutz, New Hampshire – Sr. Forward, Bad Gröenenbach, Germany
  • Scored a pair of goals in #21 UNH’s lone game of the week, a 4-0 win over Fairfield on Saturday.
  • This is Lutz’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jimmy Slayton, Hartford – Sr., Goalkeeper, Wethersfield, Conn.
  • Totaled seven saves while not allowing a goal in shutout wins over Niagara and St. Bonaventure last week.
  • This is Slayton’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Rasmus Tobinski, Vermont – Fr., Forward, Kiel, Germany
  • Scored a goal in each of Vermont’s wins, over Quinnipiac and Harvard last week.
  • This is Tobinski’s second Rookie of the Week honor of the season (9/3).
