Reigning Champs UAlbany Tabbed 2019 #AEWSOC Favorites

BOSTON – After a 2018 season during which three teams posted winning percentages over .600, the upcoming #AEWSOC season sets up to be another competitive one according to the 2019 preseason coaches’ poll.
 
Those aforementioned teams comprise the top three squads and are separated by just eight points in this year’s poll, led by defending champion UAlbany, which garnered 57 points and four first-place votes. Co-regular-season champions Hartford and Stony Brook were second and third, respectively, with Hartford earned 54 points and two first-place nods and Stony Brook totaling 49 points along with a pair of first place tallies. UMass Lowell, fresh off its first-ever America East title game appearance, was fourth with 45 points.

Twenty-two players who earned All-Conference or All-Rookie status last year will be back in 2018, including five first-team All-America East selections. Among those five is the reigning Goalkeeper of the Year, Sofia Manner, from Stony Brook. Also back is the 2018 Rookie of the Year, Jada Colbert, from UAlbany.
 
Women's soccer is the first fall sport to kick off in the NCAA with games beginning on Thursday, Aug. 22. The 36-game conference slate starts on Sunday, Sept. 22 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 31. The top six teams in the standings will qualify for the America East Championship with all games taking place at the higher seed on Sunday, Nov. 3 (quarterfinals), Thurs., Nov. 7 (semifinals) and Sunday, Nov. 10 (championship game).
