New Hampshire Captures Academic Cup as Student-Athletics Continue to Impress in the Classroom
BOSTON – After a year during which America East student-athletes collectively matched the conference’s record-high cumulative grade-point average, the University of New Hampshire captured the Walter Harrison Academic Cup. New Hampshire student-athletes earned a 3.32 cumulative GPA to win the 2018-19 Academic Cup, its fourth in the last five years and sixth overall.
“Congratulations to New Hampshire and each of our member institutions and student-athletes on another impressive academic year,” said America East Commissioner, Amy Huchthausen. “The success our student-athletes collectively attain in the classroom is truly impressive as they continue to raise the bar every year.”
The Academic Cup, established by the America East Board of Directors in 1995, is presented to the institution whose student-athletes post the highest grade-point average during that academic year. The award was named for long time University of Hartford President, Walter Harrison, in 2017.
