Pair of Relievers Earn #AEBASE Weekly Recognition

BOSTON – Two more teams clinched postseason berths last week as Binghamton and Maine took care of business in league play. The Bearcats swept a weather-shortened series at UMBC while the Black Bears took two of three from Stony Brook in Orono.

Player of the Week
Alex Baratta, Binghamton – Jr., 2B, Gladstone, N.J.
  • Slashed .533/.632/.933 in four games including two-game sweep of UMBC.
  • Baratta scored six runs and drove in three, all against the Retreivers.
  • This is his first #AEBASE weekly award of the season.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Trevor DeLaite, Maine – Jr., RHP, Bangor, Maine
  • Earned a win and three saves in Maine’s four wins last week, including a win and a save in two league wins over first-place Stony Brook.
  • Struck out eight in six shutout innings without surrendering a run or walk in his four appearances combined.
  • This is DeLaite’s first Pitcher of the Week award of his career.
 
Co-Rookie of the Week
Will Nowak, Hartford – Fr., RHP, South Windsor, Conn.
  • Tossed 7.1 scoreless innings in four relief appearances, picking up a win and a save in the process.
  • Pitched to a three-inning save against UMass Lowell, holding the River Hawks hitless while striking out a pair.
  • Nowak was also named Rookie of the Week on March 19 and April 9. 
Co-Rookie of the Week
Ryan Turenne, Maine – Fr., C, Lynn, Mass.
  • Slashed .417/.462/.667 as part of 4-1 week for the Black Bears.
  • Drove in four runs and scored a pair in four games combined.
  • This is the first time Turenne has been honored with a weekly award.
