2019 #AEWLAX All-Conference & Major Awards Announced

Stony Brook, N.Y. – After completing their fifth-straight unbeaten conference season and winning their seventh-straight regular season title, the Stony Brook Seawolves took home three of the six major awards Wednesday night, at the annual awards banquet. Stony Brook’s Anna Tesoriero was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the third year in a row while Ally Kennedy repeated as Midfielder of the Year.
 
The 2019 #AEWLAX awards and All-Conference teams were determined in a vote by the league's eight head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Offensive Player of the Year
Madison Conway, Jr., Attack, UAlbany
  • Ranks in conference’s top 10 for points, goals, and assists.
  • Top 10 in the nation with a 0.579 shot percentage.
  • First Great Dane to earn Offensive Player of the Year accolades since 2015.
  • Named to the All-Conference First Team.
 
Defensive Player of the Year
Mackenzie Burns, Sr., Midfield/Defense, Stony Brook
  • Fifth Seawolf to earn Defensive Player of the Year accolades in the six-year history of the award.
  • Ranks 7th best overall in the league averaging 1.24 caused turnovers per game.
  • Leads a Stony Brook defensive unit that leads the conference allowing just under eight goals per game.
 
Midfielder of the Year
Ally Kennedy, Jr., Midfield, Stony Brook
  • Repeats as Midfielder of the Year.
  • Leads the league and ranks 6th in the nation with 4.00 goals per game.
  • 2nd best overall rank in the league with an average of 4.59 points per game.
  • Also ranks in the league’s top 10 in both ground balls and draw controls.
  • Named to the All-Conference First Team for the second time.
 
Goalkeeper of the Year
Anna Tesoriero, Sr., Goalkeeper, Stony Brook
  • Earned Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the third-straight year.
  • Leads the league and ranks 4th in the country with a 7.79 goals against average.
  • Ranks 8th in the conference with 6.24 saves per game.
  • A First Team All-Conference selection for the fourth time.
  • A four-time Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season.
 
Rookie of the Year
Hailey Carroll, Fr., Attack, UAlbany
  • The third Great Dane to win Rookie of the Year.
  • Ranks 7th best overall in the league averaging 2.50 goals per game.
  • A six-time Rookie of the Week honoree this season.
  • 6th in the conference averaging 3.57 points per game.
  • Named to the All-Rookie and All-Conference First Team.
 
Coach of the Year
Sarah Albrecht, New Hampshire
  • Earns her first Coach of the Year honor.
  • First Wildcats to capture this award since 2004.
  • New Hampshire is seeded #3 in the 2019 #AEWLAX tournament.
  • The #3 Wildcats will be making their sixth tournament appearance in the last seven years.
 
The 2019 America East Women’s Lacrosse Championship will begin on Thursday, May 2 at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y.  #2 UAlbany will face #3 New Hampshire at 11:00 a.m. and 1 Stony Brook will play #4 UMBC at 1:30 p.m.  The semifinals will be streamed live on AmericaEast.tv. and the championship game will air on ESPN3.
