Binghamton Sweeps Weekend Series, Nets Pair of #AEBASE Weekly Honors
BOSTON – Stony Brook (13-5) clinched the first #AEBASE postseason berth by taking two of three from UMBC last weekend. The following six teams in the league are separated by just three games in the win column. Binghamton recorded the lone sweep of the week by taking care of Hartford at the site of the 2019 America East Baseball Championship in Vestal, N.Y.
Here are the league’s upcoming conference series, scheduled to begin Saturday:
Binghamton (8-6) at UMBC (6-12)
UMass Lowell (6-9) at Hartford (7-8)
Stony Brook (13-5) at Maine (7-7)

Player of the Week
Travis Collins, UAlbany – Sr., INF, Cranston, R.I.
- Slashed .632/.682/.947 in 4-1 week for the Great Danes.
- Combined to go 8-for-11 from the plate with five RBI and four runs in the series win over Maine.
- This is the first career #AEBASE weekly honor for Collins.
Pitcher of the Week
Nick Gallagher, Binghamton – Sr., RHP, New Fairfield, Conn.
- Tossed six scoreless innings to beat Hartford in the series opener.
- Surrendered just two hits while recording five outs by way of the K.
- This is Gallagher’s first Pitcher of the Week award in 2019 and the third of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Thomas Babalis, Binghamton – Fr., LHP, Branchburg, N.J.
- Threw six scoreless innings in the series finale to secure sweep of Hawks.
- Babalis allowed two hits and struck out five batters.
- This is his second consecutive Rookie of the Week nod.
