BOSTON - The America East Academic Consortium (AEAC) announced today that it will sponsor its inaugural America East College Fair and School Counselor Breakfast & Luncheon in the Chicago metro area, May 20-21, 2019.

During these events, each America East university will have the opportunity to individually present its history, tradition, and academic success to students, parents and high school counselors. The greater Chicago metro area was identified as the first destination in order to expand beyond the geographic footprint of the America East Conference to reach out-of-state students and highlight the strong academic profile and success of America East universities.

“We are extremely excited to host the inaugural America East College Fair and Admissions Meetings this spring in the Chicago area,” said Marsha Florio, Executive Director of the America East Academic Consortium. “Not only will these events expose a new and diverse demographic to the outstanding academic profile of our member institutions, but it is an exceptional opportunity for collaboration across our membership.”

Enrollment and admissions staff from every America East institution will participate in the America East College Fair to be held in Evanston, IL on Monday, May 20. This will be a unique opportunity to introduce prospective students and families to America East universities and share information about the academic programs, admissions process, and student life on each America East campus.

The College Fair will be followed by two school counselor events on Tuesday, May 21 in Evanston and Naperville. Counselors from over 100 area high schools have been invited to attend.

“Through programming and events hosted by the Academic Consortium, the America East Conference aspires to become a demonstrated leader in facilitating academic and administrative collaboration among athletically affiliated institutions,” said Harvey Stenger, Binghamton University president and chair of the America East Board of Presidents. “We are especially grateful that the full complement of our membership will be represented by admissions and enrollment leaders at this event.

The AEAC is dedicated to facilitating inter-institutional academic and administrative collaboration between the nine universities that comprise the America East Conference, an NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletic conference. Past events hosted by the AEAC include its annual hackathon and a Program Showcase, an institutional knowledge and best practices sharing program.
