Stony Brook Claims #AEWLAX Regular-Season Crown; Tourney Bracket Set
BOSTON –The 2019 America East Women’s Lacrosse Tournament bracket is set after Stony Brook captured their seventh straight America East regular season title. The # 1 seeded Seawolves are joined by #2 UAlbany, #3 New Hampshire, and #4 UMBC. The championship will begin on Thursday, May 2 and conclude on Saturday, May 4. All games will be played at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y.
Semifinal games will be played Thursday, May 2, #1 Stony Brook and #4 UMBC will start things off at 11:00 a.m., followed by #2 UAlbany and #3 New Hampshire at 1:30 p.m, The two winners will play in the championship game at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.
- Stony Brook (13-4, 7-0 AE) – Seventh-straight regular-season; Seeded 1st for eighth time; 8th-ever regular-season crown; Have won 32 straight regular season games; Seeking seventh straight title, which would set a new record for most consecutive titles in conference history.
- UAlbany (10-6, 6-1 AE) – Clinched #2 seed for the seventh-straight year; Will make their 13th-consecutive tournament appearance; Seeking ninth-straight championship game appearance; Seeking third championship title in program history and first since 2012.
- New Hampshire (10-6, 5-2 AE) – Sixth tournament appearance in the last seven years; Seeking first championship game appearance since 2009
- UMBC (6-11, 4-3 AE) – Ninth tournament appearance in school history; Third #AEWLAX tournament appearance in the last five years; Seeking to capture their first-ever championship title.
The semifinals will stream on AmericaEast.TV whil the championship will air on ESPN+
The league champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship, where America East teams have won 18 games in the past 9 seasons and 30 all-time, which includes Stony Brook’s run to the quarterfinals in the past two seasons.
