Stony Brook Snags 3rd #AEMLAX Champs Bid

BOSTON – Stony Brook overcame a six-goal deficit to beat Vermont Saturday and with the win, clinched a spot in the #AEMLAX championship field. The win sets up a showdown with UAlbany Friday, with the winner certain to earn the No. 1 seed and the right to host the championship. The Seawolves join the Great Danes and Catamounts in the tournament field.

Hartford (2-3), UMBC (1-4) and UMass Lowell (2-3) all remain alive for the final bid. The Hawks will earn it with a win over the Retrievers, who qualify with a win and a River Hawk loss. UMass Lowell gets in with a win and a Hartford loss.

Offensive Player of the Week
Isaac Bot, UMass Lowell – Jr., Attack/Midfielder, Calgary, Alberta
  • Tallied a career-high seven points in a key win at UMBC Saturday.
  • Scored six goals and had an assist.
  • Tallied the game winner in overtime.
  • This is Bot’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kevin Carbone, Binghamton – Jr., Goalkeeper, Huntington, N.Y.
  • Made 38 saves in two games last week.
  • Stopped 19 shots to lead Binghamton to a 15-12 win over Hartford Saturday.
  • This is Carbone’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Liam McDonough, UMass Lowell – Fr., Midfielder/Faceoff, Groton, Mass.
  • Won 22-of-29 faceoffs and picked up 14 ground balls to lead UMass Lowell to a win over UMBC Satyrday.
  • Also scored a goal.
  • This is McDonough’s second career Rookie of the Week honor.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Layton Harrell, Stony Brook – Fr., Midfield, Newtown, Conn.
  • Scored three times in Stony Brook’s comeback win at Vermont Saturday.
  • All three goals came in the fourth quarter, including the game winner with 3:27 left.
  • This is Closterman’s third #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
