Four Programs Earn #AETF Week #4 Awards

BOSTON – The Minutemen Invitational, Colonial Relays, Tiger Track Classic, Towson Invitational, TCNJ Invitational and UNH Season Opener played host to #AETF programs last weekend. New Hampshire swept its home meet with Maine placing second in men’s and women’s competition. The Black Bears also competed at Auburn.
 
The Wildcats split their squad with the Colonial Relays, where Binghamton, Stony Brook, Vermont and UMass Lowell also competed. The River Hawks found the most success with eighth-place (men) and fourth-place (women) finishes out of 38 teams.
 
Here are the conference’s weekly awards:
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Aziza Chigatayeva, Binghamton – Fr. Steeplechase, Brooklyn N.Y.
  • Won the steeplechase at the Colonial Relays, breaking a school record in the process.
  • Her time of 10:26.60 leads America East and ranks 35th in the country.
  • This is her first career #AETF award this season.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Paul Hogan, UMass Lowell – Gr., Distance, Burlington, Mass.
  • Ran 14:05.49 in the 5,000-meter run at the Colonial Relays.
  • His time is faster than any other runner in the conference and ranks top-40 nationally.
  • This is Hogan’s first outdoor #AETF award of the season and fourth of the 2018-19 year.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Alyssa Colbert, New Hampshire – Jr, Throws, Smithfield, R.I.
  • Finished top-three in two events at the UNH Season Opener.
  • Won the discus throw with a heave of 45.22m, ranking second in the conference.
  • This is her first #AETF honor this season.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Terrel Davis, Hartford – Jr., Jumps, Beacon, N.Y.
  • Won the triple jump at the Minutemen Invitational.
  • Touched the sand at 15.19m, breaking his own school record.
  • Davis earns Performer of the Week honors for this first time this year.
