UAlbany Competes in UCF Invitational, Pockets Trio of #AETF Weekly Awards

BOSTON – Last weekend UAlbany competed in the UCF Invitational, Hartford competed in the Adidas Winthrop University Invitational and Stony Brook hosted the Spring Opener on Long Island. The upcoming schedule includes the majority of track and field programs partaking in meets before the calendar flips to April.
 
Here are the conference’s weekly awards:
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Chidinma Matthew, UAlbany – So., Sprints, Yonkers, N.Y.
  • Placed fourth in the 100m at the UCF Invitational.
  • Her time of 11.76 ranks tops in the conference.
  • This is Matthew’s first outdoor #AETF award and second overall.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Spencer Payton, Stony Brook – Jr., Hurdles, Coram, N.Y.
  • Placed second in the 400 hurdles in the Stony Brook Spring Opener.
  • His time of 43.90 ranks second among America East competitors.
  • This is his first Performer of the Week award.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Anika Hibbard, UAlbany – Sr., High Jump, Bedford, N.H.
  • Placed second in the high jump at the UCF Invitational.
  • Her height of 1.73m leads America East and ranks within the nation’s top-35.
  • This is Hibbard’s first Field Performer of the Week honor this year.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Devon Willis, UAlbany – Gr., Jumps, Schenectady, N.Y.
  • Ranks sixth among Division I athletes in the triple jump after the UCF Invitational.
  • Willis placed second in the event last weekend with a mark of 15.63m.
  • This is his first weekly honor of outdoor season and third this academic year.
