Stony Brook Earns First #AEWLAX Win to Start ‘19
BOSTON – Stony Brook went 2-0 while also defeating UMBC during the first weekend of #AEWLAX play. Vermont, UAlbany, and New Hampshire also picked up wins this past week. Next week is highlights by three ranked matchups for three different #AEWLAX programs. UAlbany will visit No. 1 Boston College, UMBC will play No. 18 Johns Hopkins, and No. 17 Stony Brook will host No. 16 Florida.
This week, Hartford hosts Vermont, New Hampshire hosts Binghamton, UMass Lowell hosts UAlbany.
The majority of #AEWLAX games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Offensive Player of the Week
Ally Kennedy, Stony Brook - Jr., Midfield, North Babylon, NY
- Led Stony Brook to a 2-0 week scoring 10 goals.
- Scored a career-high 6 goals against UMBC.
- Also had 11 draw controls, 5 ground balls, and one caused turnover.
- This is Kennedy's first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the year.
Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Tesoriero, Stony Brook - Sr., Goalkeeper, Huntington, NY
- Only allowed seven goals in a 2-0 week for Stony Brook.
- Tallied a total of 13 saves.
- This is Tesoriero's second Defensive Player of the Week of the year.
Rookie of the Week
Grace Giancola, Vermont - So., Midfield, Canton, CT
- Won 14 draw controls in 1-0 week for Vermont.
- Also had 2 ground balls and one goal.
- This is Giancola’s second #AEWLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
