UAlbany, Hartford, Vermont Earn Wins in #AEMLAX Openers

BOSTON – UAlbany, Hartford and Vermont were all victorious during the first weekend of #AEMLAX play. Two of the games were thrillers with Vermont overcoming a six-goal deficit to beat UMBC, 12-11, in double overtime while Hartford downed Stony Brook, 12-11. In the third contest, UAlbany used a strong third quarter to beat UMass Lowell, 17-11.
 
This week, Binghamton hosts UAlbany, Vermont welcomes Hartford and UMBC visits Stony Brook.

Here are the conference's sixth weekly award winners of 2019:

Offensive Player of the Week
Jakob Patterson, UAlbany – Jr., Attacker, Chandler, Ariz.
  • Tallied a career-high nine points in Saturday’s win over UMass Lowell.
  • Scored a pair of goals and added seven assists.
  • Factored in on five of UAlbany’s seven goals during its key 7-0 third quarter run.
  • This is Patterson’s second Offensive Player honor of the season and his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Washuta, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Orono, Minn.
  • Made 14 saves in Vermont’s comeback 12-11 double overtime win at UMBC.
  • Had a 10.06 goals against average last week and didn’t allow a UMBC goal over the game’s last 15:36.
  • Also added five ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • This is Washuta’s third Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and seventh of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Cam Logan, Hartford – Fr., Goalkeeper,  North Canton, Ohio
  • Made a career-high 14 saves in Hartford’s win over Stony Brook, its first of the season.
  • Added three ground balls.
  • This is Logan’s first #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
