UMBC's Sherburne Named Academic All-America Team Member of Year

AUSTIN, Texas – UMBC senior forward Joe Sherburne has been named the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America Team Member of the Year as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was also named a first-team Academic All-American for the second-straight year. 

Sherburne became the first Retriever and first America East Conference men’s basketball player to earn Academic All-America First Team honors last season. He the first student-athlete in any sport in conference history to be honored as the Member of the Year.

Sherburne, the reigning America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was a a first-team All-Conference selection this season and ranks in the conference's top 11 in both scoring and rebounding. 

He earned his undergraduate degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA in financial economics and carries a perfect graduate 4.0 GPA of  in data science.
