Binghamton, UMBC Pick Up Pair of Wins, #AEBASE Weekly Honors
BOSTON – Weather impeded a number of baseball games last week, namely for Stony Brook, which was scheduled to host its home opener. UMBC was able to open its home slate and picked up a series win over Delaware State. Binghamton earned a series win on the road at VMI.
Here are the conference’s #AEBASE weekly awards:
Player of the Week
Vinnie Martin, UMass Lowell – So., OF, Lodi, N.J.
- Hit .429 with six RBI and six runs in three-game series against George Washington.
- Went 3-for-5 with five RBI, four runs and a pair of homers in game two win.
- This is Martin’s first Player of the Week nod of his career.
Pitcher of the Week
Ben Anderson, Binghamton – Jr., RHP, Rexford, N.Y.
- Tossed six innings, striking out eight to notch a win over VMI.
- Allowed one run on three hits.
- Anderson earns his first career Pitcher of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Blaze O’Saben, UMBC – Fr., OF, Warrenton, Va.
- Hit .308 with a triple in UMBC’s four games against Navy and Delaware State.
- Drove in three runs, two of which came in the first two games against Delaware State to give the Retrievers a series victory.
- This is O’Saben’s first career #AEBASE award.
