Personal Bests Highlight #AETF Week 6 Awards

BOSTON – Only two weekends separate teams from the 2019 America East Track and Field Championships. The latter descriptor appeared on the schedules of a number of programs last weekend. Hartford, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont participated in the NEICAAA Indoor Track and Field Championships while Stony Brook competed at the Mets Indoor Track and Field Championships.   
 
Here are the conference’s weekly award winners:
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Chidinma Matthew, UAlbany – So., Sprints, Yonkers, N.Y.
  • Competed in the Crimson Elite Invitational and Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational.
  • Her times of 7.57 in the 60-meter and 24.31 in the 200-meter are both conference bests.
  • This is her first career Performer of the Week award.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Sidney Gibbons, UAlbany – Sr., Hurdles, St. Albans, N.Y.
  • Won the 60m hurdles at the Crimson Elite Invitational.
  • His winning time of 7.82 ranks 18th nationally.
  • This is his first #AETF honor of the season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Alyssa Oviasogie, Stony Brook – Jr., Multis, Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Won the pentathlon at the Metropolitan Championships.
  • Her 3296 points is the highest score by an America East student-athlete this year.
  • This is her first #AETF award this season.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Alexios Prodanas, UMBC – Jr., Throws, Kilkis, Greece
  • Placed second in the weight throw at the NYC Gotham Cup.
  • Prodanas set a new personal best with a toss of 19.54m.
  • He has been named Performer of the Week two of the past three weeks.
