Rossignol Scores 32, Earns #AEHoops Player of Week

BOSTON – Five teams have winning records in women’s #AEHoops league play after completing the first half of the schedule. Maine and Hartford are 8-1 atop the standings, marking the first time since 2015-16 a pair of teams have just one loss through nine league games.

  • Hartford is off to its best start in conference play since 2009-10 when the Hawks finished America East play 16-0 and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
  • The Hawks rank second in the nation in total steals.
  • Maine (15-7, 8-1 AE) is ranked 23rd in the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25.
  • The Black Bears have the eighth-fewest turnovers in the country.
  • America East teams have four wins over Power 5/Atlantic-10 teams this season, including Maine’s win over North Carolina and Stony Brook’s win over Penn State.

  • Stony Brook senior Shania Johnson ranks second in the nation with 8.0 assists per game.
  • Johnson set a new single-game league record with 15 assists against New Paltz earlier this season.
  • Vermont set a single-game conference record with 14 blocks in the team’s first league win of the season against UAlbany.
  • Vermont senior Candice Wright ranks fifth in the country with 3.0 blocks per game. She ranks fifth all-time in league history with 203 career blocks.

Player of the Week
Parise Rossignol, Maine – Sr., Guard, Van Buren, Maine
  • Scored career-high 32 points behind eight made three-pointers in win over UMass Lowell Wednesday.
  • Averaged 22.5 points per game in 2-0 week for the Black Bears.
  • Rossignol shot 65 percent from the field, led by 69 percent from beyond the arc in the two games combined.
  • This is her second #AEHoops honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Annie Ramil, Binghamton – Fr., Forward, Binghamton, N.Y.
  • Averaged 10.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 1-1 week.
  • Scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds Wednesday as the Bearcats handed Hartford its first conference loss of the season.
  • Scored a career-high 13 points against UAlbany.
  • This is her first Rookie of the Week award this season.
