UAlbany Leads after Day 1 of #AETF Championships
BOSTON – The first gun signaling the start of the 2019 America East Track and Field Championships blasted on Friday at Boston University. The day was highlighted by several firsts, namely in the pentathlon and 5000-meter run.

Day 1 Highlights
- Binghamton sophomore Mallory Prelewicz donned the first medal of the day, winning the women’s pole vault by clearing 11’11.75”. It is the third consecutive year a Bearcat has won the event.
- Freshman Casey Gribben completed the Bearcats' sweep of the event by clearing 14’9”.
- UMBC junior Alexios Prodanas won the men’s weight throw, stretching the tape to 67’6” which ranks in the championship's top-five all-time. He is the first Retriever to win the event since 2013.
- UAlbany’s Victor Cotto earned a gold medal in the long jump, splashing the sand at 24’4.25”.
- Alyssa Oviasogie became the first Stony Brook student-athlete to win the pentathlon, doing so with 3465 total points. The junior won the long jump and placed second in the 60m hurdles and 800m run.
- UMass Lowell grad student Paul Hogan became the first River Hawk to win the men’s 5000m run. Hogan crossed the line in 14:18.15, a full 15 seconds ahead of the pack.
- UAlbany junior Hannah Reinhardt repeated as champion in the 5K, clocking in at 16:43.74 to become the first back-to-back champion since 2008-09.
- To cap off the opening day of competition, New Hampshire swept the distance medley relays for the first time since 2016.
