BOSTON – Five of America East’s seven men’s lacrosse programs opened their seasons last week and Vermont improved to 2-1 with a win over Holy Cross.

The majority of #AEMLAX games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Here are the conference's second weekly award winners of 2019:

Offensive Player of the Week
Dylan Jinks, Hartford – Sr., Attacker, Cedar Run, N.J.
  • Matched Hartford’s program record with eight goals vs. St. John’s Saturday, the most by a Hawk in 19 years.
  • Totaled nine points in all.
  • This is Jinks’ first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Washuta, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Orono, Minn.
  • Made 10 saves in Vermont’s 9-7 win over Holy Cross Saturday.
  • This is Washuta’s second-straight Defensive Player of the Week and sixth of his career.
Rookie of the Week
David Closterman, Vermont – Fr., Attacker, Doylestown, Pa.
  • Tallied four points to lead Vermont to a 9-7 win over Holy Cross Saturday.
  • Had three goals and an assist.
  • This is Closterman’s second-straight #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
