New Hampshire Women, UMBC Men Lead after Day 2 of #AESD Championship
Worcester, Mass. – After two days of competition at the 2019 America East Swimming and Diving Championships, the UMBC men and New Hampshire women remain atop the standings. 15 events have been completed and 25 more will take place in the following two days.

Day 2 Highlights
- Anna Metzler of New Hampshire won the women’s 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 4:48.58.
- UMBC junior Garrett Wlochowski won the men’s 500 free in a time of 4:29.06.
- UMBC Elijah Wright completed his sweep in the diving events earning gold in the 3-meter with a score 305.10.
- New meet records were set in both the women’s and men’s 50 free. Juliana McDonald touched the wall with a time of 22.89 while Ilia Rattsev finished with a time of 19.91 en route to gold.
- New Hampshire junior Corinne Carbone repeated as the 200-yard IM champion with a time of 2:01.65 while Alexander Gliese took gold with a time of 1:47.89.
- The Maine Black Bears touched the wall at 1:33.19 in the 200-yard freestyle relay earning gold while breaking the pool record. UMBC won the men’s 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:20.65.
Day 3 events begin at 10:00 a.m. with trials in 11 events, men’s and women’s 400 Individual Medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and women’s 1 meter diving. Finals begin at 5:30 p.m. and the entire day of competition can be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV
