Abed Breaks Conference Record, Earns #AEHoops Player of Week Honors

BOSTON – Maine (17-7, 10-1 AE) enters the week atop the #AEHoops standings after winning its sixth-straight game. Hartford (16-8, 9-1 AE) sits in second after a 1-0 week concluded with a bye. The two teams will square off in the pine tree state on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The Hawks won the first rematch of the 2018 #AEHoops championship game in Hartford on January 16.

Lindsey Abed, Hartford – Sr., Guard, Oakton, Va.
  • Scored a career-high 36 points Wednesday against UMBC, tying a program record.
  • Abed set a single-game conference record with 10 made three-pointers.
  • She started the game 8-for-8 from deep and also secured nine rebounds.
  • This is her second #AEHoops honor of the season and third of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Kari Brekke, New Hampshire – Fr., Guard, Appleton, Wisc.
  • Led the Wildcats to back-to-back victories over UMass Lowell and Binghamton.
  • Averaged 15.0 points per game on 47 percent shooting.
  • Leads all freshmen in scoring at 10.4 points per game.
  • This is her third Rookie of the Week award this season.
