KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Already known as one of the top men’s soccer players in the America East, New Hampshire’s Josh Bauer is getting recognized as one of the best in the country. The junior defender was one of 15 players named semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy on Tuesday.

The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s top male and female college soccer player in the nation.

It is the first time an #AEMSOC standout has been named a semifinalist since 2016, when both UMass Lowell's Wuilito Fernandes and Vermont's Brian Wright earned the honor.

Bauer earned his second-straight America East Defender of the Year award after leading a UNH defensive unit that allowed only 11 goals all season. He led the Wildcats to its first regular-season title since 1994 and its second-straight America East title, earning Most Outstanding Player honors at the championship for the second-straight year.

Three finalists will be announced on Dec. 13 while the winner will be named on Jan. 2.
