UAlbany Swipes Trio of #AETF Awards Following Opening Week

BOSTON – The 2019-20 indoor track and field season began last weekend with strong performances from a bundle of student-athletes. In team scoring, New Hampshire swept its dual meet against Maine and UAlbany women finished second at the Harvard Crimson Opener. UMass Lowell placed second and third in the Brown Alden Invitational in men’s and women’s team scoring, respectively.
 
Here are the conference's week #1 award winners of the 2019-20 season:

#AETF Weekly Award Winners – Dec. 10
Female Track Performer of the Week
Chidinma Matthew, UAlbany – Jr., Sprints, Yonkers, N.Y.
  • Came in second in the 60-meter dash with a time that now ranks in the nation’s top-10.
  • She ran a 7.50 in the event and also won the 300m.
  • Matthew earned one Performer of the Week honor during last year’s indoor season.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Myles Banfield, UAlbany – Gr., Sprints, Markham, Canada
  • Ranks third in the NCAA in the 600-meter.
  • Banfield won the event at the Harvard Crimson Opener in 1:18.81.
  • He was last honored with a weekly award in December of 2017.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
EJ Onah, UAlbany – So., Jumps, Ithaca, N.Y.
  • Won the long jump at the Harvard Crimson Opener.
  • Her mark of 20’3.75 leads the conference and ranks third in the country.
  • This is the first time Onah has been named Performer of the Week.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Trenson Terry, UMBC – Sr., Jumps, Bowie, Md.
  • Won the long jump at the TCNJ Indoor Open.
  • His mark of 24’0.75” ranks ninth in the country.
  • This is Terry’s first career weekly nod.
