Final #AEFH Weekly Awards Revealed; Championship Begins Thursday

BOSTON – The final postseason bids were clinched last weekend as the focus now shifts to the 2019 America East Field Hockey Championship. UAlbany and California secured the two remaining spots, the final step in determining the six tournament seeds. The Great Danes punched their ticket with a 2-1 win over UMass Lowell Sunday. Although idle, the Bears clinched as a result of Stanford's 5-0 win over UC Davis.

The quarterfinals begin on Thursday, Nov. 7 with #3 UNH playing #5 Cal at 11 a.m. ET followed by #4 Stanford opposing #6 UAlbany at 1 p.m. ET. #1 Monmouth and #2 Maine await the winners for Friday’s semifinal games. #AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Nov. 5
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Annick van Lange, Monmouth – So., Forward, Sint-Job, Belgium
  • Posted a hat trick in the first half of Monmouth’s win over Vermont, clinching sole possession of the East Division regular season championship.
  • It was van Lange’s sixth multi-goal game of the season and second hat trick of her career.
  • This is her second Offensive Player of the Week nod.
 
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Corinne Zanolli, Stanford – Jr., Attack, Newtown Square, Pa.
  • Scored her second hat trick in as many weeks, helping #16 Stanford secure a perfect record in West Division play.
  • Zanolli is the national leader in goals and points.
  • This is a league-high fifth Offensive Player of the Week this season and seventh of her career.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Hannah Santos, Stanford – So., Goalkeeper, North Wales, Pa.
  • Made five saves in a shutout win over UC Davis Friday.
  • Santos got the starting nod as Kelsey Bing traveled with the US Olympic team.
  • This is her first career weekly award.
 
Rookie of the Week
Sofie Knook, UMass Lowell – Fr., Back, Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Assisted on a pair of goals in two games for UMass Lowell.
  • Knook finished her first collegiate season as the team leader in points with 17.
  • She has been named Rookie of the Week a league-high three times.
