Hartford, UNH Advance to #AEWSOC Championship Semifinals

For the second-straight year, the top four seeds will square off in the semifinals of the America East Women’s Soccer Championship after #3 Hartford and #4 New Hampshire posted quarterfinal wins on Sunday. The Hawks needed double overtime to sneak past #6 UMass Lowell, 1-0, while the Wildcats outlast #5 Binghamton, 3-2.

Hartford 1, UMass Lowell 0 (2OT)
  • With just 5:01 left the second overtime session, Hartford’s Skylar Vitiello took a feed from America East first-team All-Conference midfielder Sierra Stone and found the back of the net to send her team to the semifinals.
  • Hartford has reached the semifinals eight times in the last nine years.
  • Maia Perez, the second-team All-America East goalkeeper, made four saves in net to record her sixth shutout of the year.
  • The Hawks, who are 6-1-1 in their last eight games, will play at #2 UAlbany in the semifinals Thursday at 7 p.m.
New Hampshire 3, Binghamton 2
  • Ally Reynolds and Kaylan Williams each had three point days to lift New Hampshire over Binghamton.
  • The Wildcats are in the semis for the third time in the last four years.
  • Williams (28’), Reynolds (57’) and Julie Cane (74’) scored for Wildcats while Olivia McKnight (37’) and Erin Theiller (85’) scored for Binghamton.
  • UNH will head to Stony Brook, N.Y. for a matchup with #1 Stony Brook in the semifinals Thursday at 6 p.m.
