#AEWSOC Season Hits Midway Mark, Week #7 Awards Announced
BOSTON – #AEWSOC conference play hit the halfway point for several teams after league games were played on both Thursday and Sunday last week.
Stony Brook won twice to improve to 3-0-0 and is tied with Hartford (3-1-0) atop the league standings with nine points. UAlbany and Binghamton fall in line next with seven points followed by UMass Lowell and New Hampshire with six points. Maine and Vermont each have one point and UMBC has yet to register one. The top six teams in the standings at the end of the season with qualify for the America East Championship.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 7
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Francese, Stony Brook – Jr., Forward, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
- Found the back of the net three times in a perfect 2-0 week for Stony Brook
- Scored twice in a 4-0 win over UMBC on Thursday and once in a 2-0 victory over Binghamton on Sunday.
- This is Francese’s second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season (9/9) and second of her career.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Sierra Stone, Hartford – Sr., Midfielder, Hartford
- Collected six points in Hartford’s perfect week.
- Scored twice in a 2-1 win over Vermont on Thursday and had assists on both goals in a 2-1 win over Maine on Sunday.
- This is Stone’s second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the year (9/30) and second of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sophia Chen, UAlbany – Fr., Goalkeeper, Louisville, Colo.
- Stopped all six shots she faced in recording a shutout vs. Binghamton on Thursday.
- This is Chen’s first career Defensive Player of the Week award.
Rookie of the Week
Stephanie Kemp, UMass Lowell – Fr., Forward, Mansfield, Mass.
- Scored three times in UMass Lowell’s 4-1 win over UMBC on Sunday.
- It was the first three-goal performance by an #AEWSOC student-athlete this season.
- This is Kemp’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.

Several remaining contests will air on ESPN+/3, home to over 40 America East school-produced events this fall, including a pair of conference games on Sunday.
