Binghamton Clinches Final #AEWSOC Tourney Bid; Week #10 Awards Announced

BOSTON – All six participants for the 2019 America East Women’s Soccer Championship are known after Binghamton secured the final bid with its win at UMass Lowell on Sunday. The Bearcats will compete for the league crown starting on Sunday along with UAlbany, Hartford, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire and Stony Brook.

While all of the participants are known, none of the seeds are. Those will be finalized on Thursday, the final day of the regular season. The Seawolves (16 pts.), Great Danes (15) and Hawks (13) all can earn at least a share of the regular-season title and the tournament’s top seed. The Wildcats (12), Bearcats (10) and River Hawks (10) can all still earn quarterfinal home games.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 28
Offensive Player of the Week
Kendra Harbinger, UAlbany – Jr., Defender, Clifton Park, N.Y.
  • Had a goal and an assist in UAlbany’s 4-1 win over Maine on Sunday.
  • This is Harbingers’s first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sofia Manner, Stony Brook – Jr., Goalkeeper, Helsinki, Finland
  • Stopped all five shots she faced in Stony Brook’s 2-0 win over New Hampshire on Sunday.
  • All five saves came in the second half.
  • This is Manner’s second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season (9/23) and fourth of her career.
Rookie of the Week
Leah Pais, UAlbany – Fr., Forward, Mississauga, Ont.
  • Scored twice in UAlbany’s 4-1 win over Maine on Sunday.
  • The multi-goal game was the first of her career.
  • This is von Pais’ first career Rookie of the Week honor.
