#23 Monmouth Clinches First #AEFH Berth; Week #8 Awards Announced
BOSTON – #21 Monmouth (3-0) became the first team to clinch a berth in the 2019 America East Field Hockey Championship with its double overtime win over #23 UAlbany (1-2) last Friday. In their inaugural season in the league, the Hawks are a perfect 3-0 atop the East Division standings and can clinch the right to host the tournament with a win against UMass Lowell this weekend.
Other results from last Friday included the River Hawks (1-2) beating New Hampshire (1-2) in an eight-round shootout for their first league win of the season. Cal (1-1) continued the theme of late-game drama with an overtime victory against UC Davis (0-2). #16 Stanford (2-0) defeated UC Davis Sunday afternoon and would clinch the West’s number-one seed with a win over Cal tonight.

#AEFH Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 22
Offensive Player of the Week
Dana Bozek, UAlbany – Sr., Midefield, Cortlandt, New York
- Broke out with a four-goal game against Cornell.
- Bozek was responsible for four of #23 UAlbany’s five tallies in the win.
- This is her second Offensive Player of the Week this season and second of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kate O’Hogan, Monmouth – So., Goalkeeper, Dublin, Ireland
- Compiled eight saves in #21 Monmouth’s 2-0 week that included wins over #23 UAlbany and Columbia.
- Shut out UAlbany in double overtime and allowed a lone goal to Columbia.
- This is her first career Defensive Player of the Week award.
Rookie of the Week
Sofie Knook, UMass Lowell – Fr., Back, Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Had a five-point week guiding the River Hawks to a pair of wins.
- Following a three-point performance against Holy Cross, Knook scored in the River Hawks’ win over UNH.
- This her second #AEFH Rookie of the Week designation and third weekly honor.
