Five #AEWSOC Teams Clinch #AEChamps Bids; Week #9 Awards Announced
BOSTON – With the start of the 2019 America East Women’s Soccer Championship less than two weeks away, five teams clinched tournament bids last week. UAlbany, Hartford, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire and Stony Brook are all in the field leaving just one spot remaining.
The Seawolves currently sit atop the standings at 5-1-0 and 15 points, followed by the Great Danes at 4-1-1 and 13 points. The Hawks and Wildcats are tied for third place at 4-2-0 and 12 points, while the River Hawks are 3-2-1 good for 10 points.
Binghamton (2-3-1, 7 pts.) can secure the final championship berth with a win in either of its final two games, but Vermont (1-4-2, 5), Maine (1-5-1, 4) and UMBC (1-5-0, 3) remain alive for the final spot should the Bearcats lose.

#AEWSOC Weekly Award Winners – Oct. 21
Offensive Player of the Week
Ally Reynolds, New Hampshire – Sr., Forward, Weymouth, Mass.
- Scored three goals in leading UNH to a 2-0-0 week.
- Found the back of the net twice in a 2-0 win over Maine on Thursday.
- Had the lone goal in a key 1-0 win over Hartford on Sunday.
- This is Reynolds' first career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jade Wilkins, UMBC – Jr., Goalkeeper, Stoney Beach, Md.
- Stopped 10 of 11 shots she faced in leading UMBC a 2-1 win at Maine on Sunday, its first conference win of the year.
- The 10 saves were the second-most by an America East goalkeeper in a win this season.
- This is Wilkins’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Catharina von Drigalski, Stony Brook – Fr., Defender, Oberusel, Germany
- Had a pair of assists in a perfect 2-0-0 week for first-place Stony Brook.
- Set up both game-winning goals in victories over UAlbany and Vermont.
- This is von Drigalski’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
