Binghamton, UMBC, Stony Brook, Vermont win #AEHoops MBB Openers; Week #8 Honors Announced
BOSTON – Conference play kicked off over the weekend with Binghamton, UMBC, Stony Brook and Vermont earning wins. The top eight teams in the standings will qualify for the #AEPlayoffs and earning one of the top two seeds has proven crucial to winning the conference title as 35 of the conference’s 39 all-time champions has finished first or second in the final regular-season standings.

- Stony Brook’s eight true road wins are the most in the country.
- Vermont (11-4) has won eight of its last nine games, which included victories over three Atlantic 10 teams, Ivy League favorite Harvard and CAA favorite Northeastern.

- Juniors Anthony Lamb (Vermont) and Akwaski Yeboah (Stony Brook) were both named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List earlier this year. The award is given to the top mid-major player in the country.
- Lamb (21.5 ppg) ranks 24th in the nation in scoring.
- Lamb’s 42 points vs. St. Bonaventure on Dec. 18 were the most for an #AEHoops player since Jameel Warney had 43 in the 2016 league title game.

Co-Player of the Week
J.R. Lynch, Hartford – Sr., Guard, Hoboken, N.J.
- Scored a career-high 26 points in Hartford’s upset of Boston College on Dec. 31.
- Added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- The win was Hartford’s second in a row vs. Boston College and the conference’s second vs. a Power 5-conference school this season.
- This is Lynch’s first career Player of the Week honor.
Co-Player of the Week
Anthony Lamb, Vermont – Jr., Forward, Rochester, N.Y.
- Averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in a 2-0 week for Vermont.
- Shot 65 percent (13-of-20 from the field.
- Had 21 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks in a win over Dartmouth Wednesday.
- Scored 16 points and added four rebounds in just 18 minutes of action Saturday in a win over UAlbany.
- This is Lamb’s fourth Player of the Week honor this season and of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Sam Sessoms, Binghamton – Fr., Guard, Philadelphia, Pa.
- Averaged 23.0 points and 4.0 assists in two games last week.
- Shot 57 percent from the field (16-for-28) including 8-for-12 from three-point range.
- Had 21 points in Binghamton’s league-opening win vs. UNH Saturday.
- This is Sessoms’ league-best fifth #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor this year.
