Three Programs Earn #AETF Weekly Awards as Meets Resume

BOSTON – The 2018-19 track and field season resumed this past weekend for America East teams after a month without competition. Stony Brook competed in the Brian Horowitz Invitational, finishing first and second in women’s and men’s team scoring, respectively. Vermont placed third in both team scoring sections at the Dartmouth Relays, where Hartford also competed. UAlbany, Binghamton and UMBC competed in the Great Dane Classic.
 
Here are the conference’s weekly award winners:
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Kaley Richards, UMass Lowell – So., Distance, Lowell, Mass.
  • Took third in the 3000-meter run at the Beantown Challenge.
  • Her time of 9:51.38 is a conference-best in 2018-19.
  • This is her first career Performer of the Week award.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Dan Schaffer, Binghamton – Jr., Distance, Endwell, N.Y.
  • Won the 3000m run at the Great Dane Classic.
  • His time of 8:14.02 ranks 18th in the nation.
  • This is Schaffer’s first #AETF award of the season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Lynda Brundige, UAlbany – Jr., Jumps, Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Placed fourth in the triple jump at the Great Dane Classic.
  • Her mark of 12.15 meters ranks in the top-35 nationally.
  • This is her first #AETF award this season.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Devon Willis, UAlbany – Gr., Jumps, Schenectady, N.Y.
  • Won the triple jump at the Great Dane Classic.
  • His mark of 15.58 meters is tied for ninth-best in the country.
  • This is Willis’s first #AETF honor of the season.
