UMass Lowell Enters National Rankings, Week #2 Honors Announced

BOSTON – America East men’s soccer teams combined to go 10-7-1 in non-conference action last week, including perfect weeks from New Hampshire and Vermont and a 2-0-1 week for UMass Lowell.
 
The River Hawks entered the United Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 at #22 this week, while the Catamounts and Wildcats are receiving votes.   

The majority of #AEMSOC conference games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Here are the conference's week #2 award winners of 2018:

Offensive Player of the Week
Trevor Colazzo, Vermont – Sr., Forward, Hudson, Ohio
  • Scored in each of Vermont’s two wins last week.
  • Had the overtime game winner in a 2-1 victory at Northeastern Friday.
  • Scored in a 3-0 win over LIU Brookyn Sunday.
  • This is Colazzo’s first #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season and career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mikel Kabala, Vermont – Sr., Midfielder, Kinshasa, DR of Congo
  • Led Vermont’s impressive defensive effort by playing every minute as the Catamounts allowed just one goal on 12 shots in two games.
  • Only five of the shots were on goal.
  • Also scored a goal via penalty kick vs. LIU Brooklyn.
  • This is Kabala’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Chris Pinkham, New Hampshire – Fr., Midfielder, Concord, N.H.
  • Broke a 2-2 tie with his first career goal in UNH’s win over LIU Brooklyn Friday.
  • This is Pinkham’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week award of his career.
