#AEVB Set to Start; Week #4 Awards Announced

BOSTON – #AEVB play begins this weekend with three matches. Hartford is off to their best start since 1991 with a 7-3 record. The Hawks sit atop the standings while reigning #AEVB champs Stony Brook is 6-8 and UAlbany is 5-7.

The majority of #AEVB conference games will appear AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Here are the conference's weekly award winners:

Player of the Week
Jenna Bridges, Hartford – Jr., MB, Exeter, R.I.
  • Averaged 4.70 kills per set, 0.70 blocks per set and 1.00 digs per set in 2-1 week.
  • Registered a career-best 23 kills vs Lafayette.
  • Had 11 kills with zero errors for a .611 hitting percentage against Delaware State.
  • Leads the league in hitting percentage (.354), kills per set (4.08), blocks per set (1.03) and in average points per set (4.62).
  • This is Bridges’ third career #AEVB Player of the Week award.
Co-Setter of the Week
LeAnne Sakowicz, Stony Brook – Jr., Setter, Wauconda, Ill.
  • Had 116 total assists averaging 10.54 assists per set.
  • Tallied a total of 23 digs and 6 blocks.
  • Averaged a hitting percentage of .529 in 2-1 week for Stony Brook.
  • This is Sakowicz’s fifth career #AEVB Setter of the Week award.
Setter of the Week
Megan Anderson, Hartford – So., Setter, Orono, MN.
  • Averaged 10.80 assists per set.
  • Added three blocks and five service aces.
  • Had 49 assists in game against Lafayette.
  • This is Anderson’s second career Setter of the Week honor.
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Kiani Kerstetter, Stony Brook – So., L/DS, Cardiff, CA.
  • Earned All-Tournament honors while averaging 4.72 digs per set.
  • Helped Stony Brook hold teams to a .176 hitting percentage in 2-1 week.
  • This is Kerstetter’s third career #AEVB Defensive Specialist of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Kiara Adams, Binghamton – Fr., Setter., Peekskill, NY
  • Led the Bearcats with a career-high 35 assists vs Sacred Heart and 30 assists in 3-0 win over NJIT.
  • Had 102 assists averaging 6.8 per set.
  • Also had 25 digs in 2-2 week for Binghamton.
  • This is Adams’ first #AEVB Rookie of the Week award of her career.
