Seven #AEBASE Players Selected in 2018 MLB Draft
Secaucus, N.J. - Seven student-athletes were selected in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, the highest total of America East baseball selections since a record total of 12 were chosen in 2012.
Maine shortstop Jeremy Pena was selected in the third round by the Houston Astros with the 102nd overall pick. The 2018 All-Conference selection is the highest #AEBASE draft pick since former Hartford standout Sean Newcomb and America East Pitcher of the Year was selected with the 15th overall pick in 2014.
Over the past eight years, 49 America East players have been drafted. Three are currently on major league rosters, in Newcomb (Atlanta Braves), former All-American Travis Jankowski (San Diego Padres) and two-time Pitcher of the Year Nick Tropeano (Los Angeles Angels).
