77 Tabbed AE Presidential Student-Athletes For Graduating with 3.75 GPA

BOSTON – A conference-high 77 America East student-athletes have been named America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes for their outstanding academic achievements throughout their collegiate careers.

The award recognizes graduating student-athletes who compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher as an undergraduate student and earned their undergraduate degrees this year. In addition to registering a 3.75 GPA for their college career, honored student-athletes must have received their undergraduate degree in the academic year they are honored and have attended their institution for a minimum of two years.

Albany and Binghamton each led the way with 11 student-athletes honored, followed by UMass Lowell and Vermont with 10 apiece, Hartford and Maine with nine each, New Hampshire with eight, UMBC with seven and Stony Brook with three.

The Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award was approved by the America East Board of Presidents in June of 2013 and implemented for 2013-14 academic year. In total, 284 elite student-athletes have been honored as part of the program.
