Final #AETF Outdoor Awards Bestowed
BOSTON – The Penn Relays served as the final tune-up for a majority of America East track and field programs as the focus has shifted to the 2018 #AETF Outdoor Championships. The meet will be held at UMBC on May 5
th and 6
th and will be streamed live on
AmericaEast.tv.

Here are the final track and field weekly awards:
Female Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire – Sr., Distance, Montgomery, Vt.
- Won the 1500-meter race in 4:17.89 at the UMass Pre-Conference meet.
- Purrier’s time ranks 25th in the nation.
- This is her first #AETF Performer of the Week honor of the outdoor season.
Male Track Performer of the Week
Sidney Gibbons, Albany – Jr., Hurdles, St. Albans, N.Y.
- Placed fifth in the 110m hurdles at the Penn Relays.
- His time of 13.94 is a personal best and leads the conference.
- This is his first #AETF Performer of the Week award of the outdoor season.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Rachael Bergeron, Maine – Sr., Hammer, Waterville, Maine
- Threw a personal-best 197’10” in the hammer throw at the Penn Relays.
- Her toss earned fourth-place in the meet and is second all-time at Maine.
- Bergeron earns Female Field Performer of the Week honors for the first time this season.
Male Field Performer of the Week
Michael Shanahan, New Hampshire – Sr., Throws, Dover, N.H.
- Finished third in the hammer throw with a mark of 222’5” at Penn Relays.
- Shanahan tossed farther than any other America East thrower this season.
- This is his second Performer of the Week honor of the outdoor season.
