STONY BROOK, N.Y. – With their 18-5 thrashing of Penn on Sunday, Stony Brook advanced to the NCAA women’s lacrosse quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. The fifth-seeded Seawolves won their 33rd-straight game at home behind five first-half goals from senior Courtney Murphy that gave them a 13-2 advantage at the break.

The win is the ninth all-time for an America East team in the NCAA tournament. It is the first time an America East women’s lacrosse team has reached the quarterfinals in back-to-back years. Stony Brook is the fifth America East team to reach the quarterfinals and third in the last seven years.

Murphy finished with a game-high nine points, six goals and three assists. Tewaaraton Finalist Kylie Ohlmiller notched seven points on five goals and two assists while sophomore Ally Kennedy added five points of her own. America East Goalkeeper of the Year Anna Tesoriero made nine saves in the win.

The Seawolves outshot Penn 28-18 and also forced 20 turnovers.

Ohlmiller has 152 points on the season – 12 shy of her NCAA single-season record from a season ago.

Murphy’s 93 goals are seven shy of the NCAA single-season record of 100, which she set herself in 2016.

Stony Brook will travel to Boston to take on Boston College in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.
