Albany, Maine, UMass Lowell Win #AESB Series, Week 7 Awards Unveiled
BOSTON – Conference play for the 2018 #AESB season got underway over the weekend and saw Maine sweep its series with Hartford and Albany and UMass Lowell took two of three from Stony Brook and UMBC, respectively.
Here are the 2018 week #7 award winners:
Player of the Week
Chelsea Henige, Albany – Jr., C/IF, Binghamton, N.Y.
- Reached base eight times in 15 plate appearances in a 4-1 week for Albany.
- Drove in five runs and hit a home run.
- This is her first career #AESB Player of the Week honor.
Pitcher of the Week
Melissa Rahrich, Stony Brook – So., P, Brighton, Colo.
- Fired a complete game, one-hit shutout with 6 strikeouts in a 2-0 win vs. Albany.
- Had a 0.58 ERA with just six hits allowed in 12 innings pitched last week.
- This is Rahrich’s third Pitcher of the Week award this season.
Rookie of the Week
Maranda Jimenez, Albany – Fr., P/IF, Riverside, Calif.
- In the circle went 2-0 with a save for the Great Danes.
- Hit .375 (3-for-8) at the plate with a pair of RBI.
- This is her first #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
