Albany, Binghamton, UMass Lowell Earn #AETF Awards

BOSTON – Entering the final week of the regular season, only a handful of meets remain for America East track and field programs. Albany, UMass Lowell and Stony Brook all hosted meets this past weekend and each will travel to Philadelphia to compete in the Penn Relays with the majority of #AETF programs on Friday and Saturday.
 
The 2018 America East Track and Field Championships will be held at UMBC May 5th and 6th and will be streamed live on AmericaEast.tv.
 
Here are this week’s award winners:

Female Track Performer of the Week
Cara Sherman, Albany – Jr., Distance, Rotterdam, N.Y.
  • Placed fifth in the women’s 10,000-meter run at the Virginia Challenge.
  • Her time of 34:51.22 ranks atop the America East leaderboard.
  • This is her first #AETF Performer of the Week honor of the season.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Paul Hogan, UMass Lowell – Sr., Distance, Burlington, Mass.
  • Broke the school record with a time of 13:56.30 in the 5,000-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
  • His time also ranks first in America East.
  • It is Hogan's first #AETF Performer of the Week award of the outdoor season.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Keishorea Armstrong, Binghamton – Sr., Jumps, Chatham, N.Y.
  • Won the long jump at the Bucknell Outdoor Team Challenge for the second time in as many meets.
  • She cleared 19’5.5” and holds the top two marks in the conference this season.
  • Armstrong also anchored the 4x100 relay team which finished second.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Jack Fitzgerald, Binghamton – So., High Jump, Ballston Spa, N.Y.
  • Won the high jump at the Bucknell Outdoor Team Challenge.
  • Fitzgerald cleared 6’9” which ties him for second in the conference this season.
  • He has won the high jump in two of his last three meets.
