#1 Albany, #15 Vermont, UMass Lowell Post #AEMLAX Wins, Week 8 Awards Announced

BOSTON – The nation’s top-ranked team improved to 10-0 on the season last week as #1 Albany beat Harvard and Stony Brook despite Tewaaraton Award nominee Connor Fields playing a limited role due to injury. Additionally, UMass Lowell and Vermont, which moved up to #15 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, each posted wins to improve to 2-1 in #AEMLAX play.
 
Here are the 2018 week #8 award winners:

Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Sean Tyrrell, UMass Lowell – Sr., Attacker, Calgary, Alberta
  • Racked up a career-best seven points on four goals and three assists in UMass Lowell’s 10-7 comeback win vs. UMBC Saturday.
  • Factored in on three of the River Hawks’ six fourth quarter goals as they outscored the Retrievers 6-0 in the final frame.
  • This is the second #AEMLAX weekly award this season for Tyrrell (2/12) and third of his career.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Ian MacKay, Vermont – Sr., Attacker, Port Elgin, Ont.
  • Scored a career-high six goals in Vermont’s 11-7 win over Hartford Saturday.
  • This is MacKay’s second #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season (3/5) and fourth of his career.

Defensive Player of the Week
Hunter Braun – Fr., Goalkeeper, Hartland, Mich.
  • Stopped 20 of the 27 shots he saw in a 10-7 win over UMBC Saturday.
  • Recorded a .741 save percentage.
  • This is his second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season (3/19).
 
Rookie of the Week
Tehoka Nanticoke, Albany – Fr., Attack, Six Nations, Ontario
  • Led #1 Albany with 11 points in a pair of wins last week.
  • Had two goals and four assists in the Great Danes’ 13-6 win over Harvard Wednesday.
  • Totaled a pair of goals and three assists in a 13-7 win over Stony Brook Saturday.
  • This is Nanticoke’s third-consecutive Rookie of the Week award and fifth of the season.
