#AESB Season Hits Midway Mark, Week #9 Awards Announced
BOSTON – The 2018 #AESB season hit the midway point last week and Maine sits atop the conference standings at 7-2 with UMass Lowell a half game back at 6-2 and Albany at 7-3.
Here are the 2018 week #9 award winners:
Co-Player of the Week
Sarah Petzold, Albany – Jr., OF, Carol Stream, Ill.
- Had a 1.462 OPS going 7-for-15 (.467) with two home runs and a double.
- Drove in 10 runs and scored six in a 4-1 week for Albany.
- This is her second #AESB Player of the Week honor of the season.
Co-Player of the Week
Melissa Rahrich, Stony Brook – So., IF/P, Brighton, Colo.
- Had a 1.638 OPS going 10-for-16 with a home run and two doubles in a 3-2 week for Stony Brook.
- Scored 10 runs and had six RBIs.
- This is her first #AESB Player of the Week honor of the season.
Pitcher of the Week
Lovina Capria, UMass Lowell – Fr., P, Deltona, Fla.
- Threw 9 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing only seven baserunners and fanned eight in two appearances last week.
- Hurled an eight-inning, one-hit shutout in a 1-0 win vs. Maine Wednesday.
- This is her second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Kyleigh O’Donnell, Maine – Fr., P, Abington, Mass.
- Did not allow an earned run in 11 2/3 innings of work vs. UMass Lowell & UMBC last week.
- Had a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell Wednesday.
- Struck out 18 hitters overall (10.9 K/7 innings).
- This is her first #AESB Rookie of the Week honor.
