Albany, UMass Lowell Split #AEBASE Awards Following Sweeps

BOSTON – Series sweeps were the theme last weekend as UMass Lowell, Albany and Hartford each won all three games of their weekend series in league play. The River Hawks swept UMBC in their first home series of the year, while the Great Danes and Hawks each won a trio of games on their home diamonds against Stony Brook and Binghamton, respectively.

Here are this week’s awards:
 
Player of the Week
Patrick Lagravinese, Albany – Jr., INF/RHP, St. James, N.Y.

• Compiled a batting average of .667 in 4-1 week for Albany, including series sweep of Stony Brook.
• Scored seven runs and drove in two in five games combined.
• Lagravinese also pitched two scoreless innings against Manhattan.

 
Pitcher of the Week
Andrew Ryan, UMass Lowell – Sr., RHP, Rochester, Mass.

• Ryan threw seven shutout innings, earning the win that clinched the sweep of UMBC.
• Struck out ten, surrendered five hits and did not allow a walk.
• This is his fifth career Pitcher of the Week honor.

 
Co-Rookie of the Week
Josh Gurnack, Albany – Fr., C, Scotland, Conn.

• Hit .500 in two games, headlined by 4-for-5 day at the plate in win over Stony Brook Saturday.
• Tallied a pair of runs and two RBI in same game against Seawolves.
• This is the first #AEBASE honor of Gurnack's career.

 
Co-Rookie of the Week
Henry Funaro, UMass Lowell – Fr., RHP, Lowell, Mass.

• Earned the win on the mound Friday against UMBC.
• Struck out nine in five innings (16.2 K/9) while only allowing one hit and one run, which was unearned.
• This is his second #AEBASE Rookie of the Week award.
