UMBC, UMass Lowell, Stony Brook Earn Key #AEMLAX Wins, Net Weekly Honors

BOSTON – UMBC, UMass Lowell and Stony Brook men’s lacrosse programs all earned key conference wins last week as just two weeks remain in the 2018 regular season. The Seawolves sit tied atop the league standings with Albany at 3-1 while the River Hawks and Vermont are tied for third at 3-2, UMBC is fifth at 2-2, Binghamton is sixth at 1-3 and Hartford is seventh at 0-4. The top four teams in the final standings will qualify for the 2018 America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship, which will be held May 3-5 at the top seed.
 
Albany, which was idle last week, is #2 in both national polls this week and was ranked first in the first NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Committee first Top 10 rankings released over the weekend. 


Here are the 2018 week #10 award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Daniel Cozzi, UMass Lowell – So., Attacker, Reading, Mass.
  • Tallied nine points in a 2-0 week for UMass Lowell.
  • Had a program-record seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in a comeback win vs. Hartford Saturday.
  • This is Cozzi’s first #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Bollinger, Stony Brook – So., Goalkeeper, Holbrook, N.Y.
  • Made a career-best 16 saves in Stony Brook’s 8-7 double OT win over #16 Vermont.
  • Had a with a .696 save percentage and a 6.44 GAA.
  • This is his second career Defensive Player of the Week award.
 
Rookie of the Week
Tommy Lingner, UMBC – Fr., Goalkeeper, Fort Salonga, N.Y.
  • Stopped eight of the 10 shots he faced in UMBC’s 5-2 win over Binghamton,
  • Four of the saves came in the fourth quarter.
  • This is his second-straight Rookie of the Week honor and third of the season
