Stony Brook Retains Top Ranking, 3 #AEWLAX Programs Earn Weekly Honors

BOSTON – No. 1 Stony Brook (5-0) and UMBC (6-1) have built momentum after undefeated weeks in women’s lacrosse. The Retrievers earned a home win against Coastal Carolina and a road win at Duquesne and have now won three straight games. The Seawolves remain atop the national rankings after picking up a win at Michigan a week ago. The nation's top team has not lost a regular season game in over a year.
 
Stony Brook has the top defense in the country, allowing 7.0 goals per game. Junior goalkeeper Anna Tesoriero ranks fourth nationally with a .547 save percentage. UMBC junior Sara Moeller is tops in the nation with 7.2 points per game while Stony Brook sophomore Taryn Ohlmiller ranks first with 3.6 assists per game.

Offensive Player of the Week
Carolyn Jamison, UMBC – Sr., Midfield, Westminster, Md.
  • Scored eight points in 2-0 week for Retrievers.
  • Totaled seven goals and an assist in wins over Coastal Carolina and Duquesne.
  • This is Jamison’s third career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Tesoriero, Stony Brook – Jr., Goalkeeper, Huntington, N.Y.
  • Allowed just two goals in Stony Brook's road win at Michigan.
  • Tesoriero made seven shots for a .778 save percentage.
  • It is her second #AEWLAX Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Hannah Rose, UMass Lowell – Fr., Midfield, Rockeville Centre, N.Y.
  • Three ground balls and three caused turnovers in a pair of games.
  • Had two ground balls and a caused turnover in the River Hawks’ win over Wagner as part of 1-1 week.
  • This is the first #AEWLAX award of Rose’s career.
