New Hampshire's Elinor Purrier Wins Mile at NCAA Championships
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – With her time of 4:31.76, New Hampshire senior Elinor Purrier won the women's mile at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday. She is the first America East student-athlete to win an individual national championship since 2012.
The eight-time All-American, who owns the second-fastest indoor mile time in NCAA history, edged out Colorado’s Dani Jones by less than a tenth of a second. Purrier is the third women’s indoor national champion in America East history, joining Lucy Van Dalen (Stony Brook, 2012) and Jennifer Lanctot (Boston University, 1991). She is the fourth America East student-athlete to win a national championship.
