Purrier Runs at Millrose Games, Earns #AETF Weekly Nod
BOSTON – Elinor Purrier competed on the national stage last weekend as she ran the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in New York City. The race included primarily professional runners, many of whom are former Olympians and national champions.
For America East track and field programs, Massachusetts was the central location. Albany finished second in both the men’s and women’s competition at the Boston University Scarlet and White Invitational. Hartford, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont competed in the New England Indoor Championships while UMass Lowell competed in the Harvard Crimson Elite Meet.

Female Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire – Sr., Distance, Montgomery, Vt.
- Placed fifth in the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games, first among NCAA competitors.
- Her time of 4:31.85 ranks third in the country.
- It is her third #AETF Performer of the Week award this season.
Male Track Performer of the Week
William Ulrich, New Hampshire – Sr., Distance, Mineola, N.Y.
- Finished third in the 1000m at the New England Indoor Championships.
- His time of 2:28.76 was just shy of a personal best.
- It is his first #AETF Performer of the Week award of 2018.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Kerstin Darsney, UMass Lowell – Sr., Multis, Rowley, Mass.
- Finished second in the high jump at the Harvard Crimson Elite Meet.
- She cleared 5’10” which ranks first in the conference.
- It is Darsney’s second Female Field Performer of the Week award of this season.
Male Field Performer of the Week
Michael Shanahan, New Hampshire – Sr., Throws, Dover, N.H.
- Won the weight throw at the New England Indoor Championships.
- His throw of 68’6” was five feet longer than the rest of the field.
- It is his fifth Indoor #AETF weekly award of the season.
