Albany Ranked #1 in Nation; Week #3 #AEMLAX Awards Announced
BOSTON – Albany is the top-ranked men’s lacrosse program in the country after a dominating 18-5 win over Drexel Saturday. The Great Danes, the first #1 team in #AEMLAX history, built a 16-2 halftime lead. Albany joins the current Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team and the 1994 Boston University men’s soccer program as the only America East teams to sit atop national polls.
Elsewhere, Vermont improved to 5-0 with its 10-5 win over Quinnipiac and rose to #16 in both polls.

Offensive Player of the Week
Connor Fields, Albany – Sr., Attacker, Albany, N.Y.
- Racked up nine points on two goals and seven assists to lead #1 Albany to a win over Drexel Saturday.
- This is Fields’ first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and eighth of his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Nick Washuta, Vermont – So., Goalkeeper, Orono, Minn.
- Stopped 10 of the 15 shots he saw to lead #16 Vermont to a 10-5 win over Quinnipiac Saturday.
- Had a .750 save percentage and also picked up three ground balls.
- This is Washuta’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Tehoka Nanticoke, Albany – Fr., Attacker, Six Nations, Ontario
- Scored three goals and added two assists in a win over Drexel Saturday.
- This is Nanticoke’s second Rookie of the Week honor of the season (2/19).
